A Trip to Mayberry

In 2008 my bff  Deb and I took a trip to Mount Airy, NC after a trip to Myrtle Beach. I had gotten hooked on watching The Andy Griffith Show so much my son would roll his eyes and shake his head. Well...

I remember when I saw Pilot Mountain for the first time. I was in awe. Pilot Mountain might not be as high as the Blue Ridge but it makes up for it in uniqueness. Deb and I had planned on going up until certain events in our plans led to my seeing it with my son. He had taken his family up there during the winter so they could see the snow. anyway...

We got a motel room and then headed into town. I have always loved seeing different places and how they live. I've always wondered the reasons why some folk stay in oneplace forever and othersare almostlike gypsies.I was born and raised in FL and never ever thought I would actually live somewhere else. Now it is I who is the transplant.
This building was the first glimpse of Mayberry. I don't believe it was painted like that whenI came to Mayberry Days. We found us a parking space and proceeded the walk to Main St. We didn't have to far and stopped to take pics of us at Barney & Andy's patrol car. Little did we know about all of the patrol cars. I do know how out of shape I was. The side walk had a slight up climb and by the time I reachde the Town Clock I was slightly out of breath. ( a little more than slightly.)
